Dear Friends and Family of California and the Canyons,
Yesterday was our last day in the magnificent city of Los Angeles, and let me tell you, the past few days in the City of Angels have been nothing short of action packed.
We started off our stay in LA with a bang, heading to Universal Studios Hollywood to take in some roller coasters and the famous studio tour. The trip members walked around in amazement as they were immersed in the theme park. Many trip members were blown away by the incredibly accurate “Springfield” part of the park, based on the famous town from The Simpsons.
We then headed to do the Universal Studio tour, where trip members were able to see sets from famous several Universal films and TV series. Trip members gushed as we passed through Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane, the set of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, Peter Jackson’s King Kong, as well as many others. After the tour, the trip members were free to explore the park and take in many of its attractions and later we wrapped the day up with a delicious dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at the Universal Studios’ City Walk!
The following day, we headed over to the Farmers Market and The Grove where trip members were able to enjoy some fine foods and do some shopping at some of the boutiques in the area before we headed to the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland!
At Disney, we enjoyed rides such as Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, and many more. We even had some star sightings as Ashleigh and Zach saw Ashley Benson from the TV series, Pretty Little Liars, and Ella, Nicole and Emily saw Jason Earles, who played Miley Cyrus’ TV brother Jackson on the show Hannah Montana. We ended the day with a spectacular parade and a captivating fireworks show over the Disneyland castle.
The next day, we ventured to the Hollywood walk of fame and Mann’s Chinese Theatre to feel the nostalgia of old Hollywood and even get a view of the famous Hollywood sign. We then headed to the Museum of Tolerance for a great learning experience. Trip members were lead throughout the museum and learned of the history of intolerance in North America as well as the many injustices we see today around the world. Andy even came to the conclusion that his great uncle was one of the founders of the Museum of Tolerance! We ended the day at the Santa Monica Pier, enjoying a leisurely ride on the ferris wheel.
Our last day in LA consisted of a trip to the UCLA bookstore and then an exciting photo/video scavenger hunt on Venice Beach! We then headed back to UCLA to enjoy their world-class facilities, including their gym. That night we headed to the famous Hollywood Improv where we laughed up a storm and trip members playfully got heckled by the comedians who were overjoyed to perform for our group. The night ended with many laughs as America’s Got Talent runner-up Taylor Williamson performed a hilarious set.
We are now in San Diego and should be nothing short of a wonderful time for all.
