No history lesson could ever be this exciting! The Czech Republic is a fascinating country that tells the history of Europe itself, on the banks of its rivers, in the walls of its historic castles, and behind the walls of notable fortresses. Nestled in the heart of Bohemia, the capital city of Prague is perched on the banks of the legendary Vltava River. Here you’ll find the magnificent Prague Castle, the oldest and grandest Medieval castle in Europe. Built in 870 AD, it has been home to Czech kings and is now the seat of the Czech president. Impressive and impactful, Prague is full of castles, church spires, clock towers, and walled bridges. And the very moving Theresienstadt, a former World War II concentration camp where we bear witness. Prisoners included some of the most brilliant writers, artists and philosophers of the day, whose works have been preserved and on display. In the Czech Republic, you’ll go from exciting cities to fairy tale towns, like Český Krumlov, a Medieval town whose historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
