Dear Friends and Family of California Extravaganza,
The first 48 hours of our trip has been exciting! Once we all united at the airport in Denver, we hopped on our bus and made our way to our dorms in beautiful Boulder. Everyone was impressed and eager to explore the beautiful campus. After settling into our rooms, we went outside and played some interactive games, to encourage everyone to meet one another. We all couldn’t stop staring at the scenic view of the mountains.
We had dinner at a funky Westcoast Connection/Boulder favorite – the Sink. Everyone had the opportunity to enjoy some tasty food and sign their names on the ceilings! Photos of Barack Obama were displayed throughout the restaurant, as well as many other celebrities who have dined at this classic spot! We then made our way over to a bowling alley. We spotted an acapella group practicing outside, and could not resist asking them to perform for us. One of our trip leaders, Jesse, joined in with the acapella group, and showed off some of his beat boxing skills! Everyone found it hilarious!
Special shout outs go to Randy, who was the king of strikes, as well as Emily who won her very first game of bowling. Jake C. was a pool shark, who not only impressed his friends, but played effortlessly.
On day two we checked out an artsy area in Boulder. We walked around Pearl Street, enjoying live music, street performers and delicious food. We also went on a bike ride along the Boulder River. Danielle E, Sophie, and Daryn were speedy on the bikes, leading the pack of riders. Later in the day, we made our way to Denver, to experience Elitch Gardens. The trip members were excited to go on the rides at the amusement park. Prizes were also won, and have been made our trip mascots!
Next up, we are in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for a two-day camping trip. Everyone is looking forward to sleeping in tents, bonding, and spending time outdoors. Not everyone on our trip has been camping before, however everyone is eager to experience the great outdoors!
Until next time …
Gavin, Skylar, Jesse, Allison, Jamie
