LA was typically fabulous. We started off with lunch and time for exploration at the colorful Venice Beach boardwalk. Steph S and Maria did well at the various vendors, as did Cole with his purchase of a fedora to complete the look for Jason, our staff member.
Next, we made our way to the stylish Rodeo Drive to rub elbows with the rich and famous. We had a few star sightings and even a run in with the paparazzi. Spencer, Colby and Lauren spotted the famous Hillary Duff, as well as others who chatted Lisa Rina.
Later that night, Jared T, Phoebe and Lindsey were to their delight, the repeated subjects of the comedians’ wrath. After much laughter we called it a night and headed back to the UCLA campus.
The next day, we started our day off on a more serious note by volunteering at the L.A. food bank. Cory, Sam Jared W and Jordan amongst others, thoroughly enjoyed the activity, which included sorting through produce and canned goods for families in need. Feeling fulfilled the group made our way to Disneyland, where we filled the rest of our day with parades, rides and smiles galore. Fireworks were the perfect way to end our long and enjoyable day.
We began the day with a trip to the UCLA bookstore, where to our surprise, we ran into the Real Madrid Soccer Club, including the head coach. Evan, Jesse, Ludovica and Federica as well as our own Spaniard Maria, were elated and were thrilled to get autographs and photos with the team. With the spirit of community and understanding in our minds, we visited the Museum of Tolerance where we had a guided tour of the interactive exhibits, which shed further insight into the importance of inclusion.
Just like Randy Newman sang, “We Love L.A.”!!!
We’ll be back in touch with you soon!
