Surfs up in San Diego with California and the Canyons!

Surfs Up in San Diego!! Our last stop in California was a great one, beginning with a birthday celebration for Paige. She celebrated her birthday with the group doing one of her favorite activities, surfing. We arrived on the beach around noon and had a salad and sandwich lunch, and learned how to surf by some of San Diego’s best. It was a favorite activity for Brandon, Robbie, and Alex R. We were impressed with all of their skills and they all managed to catch a few waves for the first time! Some of our campers even were able to get up without any help…maybe trip 10 really are just a bunch of surfer guys and girls! We arrived at our San Diego Doubletree resort and relaxed for a little before a group dinner at Islands, and then ended the night with Paige’s birthday cake.

Lions, tigers, bears–oh my! We were off to the world famous San Diego Zoo. We began the morning with a bus tour of the zoo that covers about 70% of the park, and then split up into groups so we could all see our favorite animals. Spencer really enjoyed seeing the polar bears, which San Diego Zoo has a whole exhibit on. We then had another successful laundry experience before heading off to dinner at Souplantaion. This was a favorite meal for Hailey, who enjoyed the unlimited soup, salad, pasta and frozen yogurt. After filling up we all headed to Laser Tag. The friendly competition was a ton of fun for everyone, and Alex K. not only had a blast, he also placed 2nd in his group!

After an amazing stop in San Diego, we said goodbye to California and Kendra, Emily, Jessica, Laney, and Eliza as they were only signed up for 2 weeks. We already miss them a ton.

We are now off to fabulous Las Vegas and everyone is sooooo excited to be in this amazing city. Eric can’t wait to see the famous hotels and walk along the Las Vegas strip, while Carolyn can’t wait to ride the Stratosphere. We all know its going to be a great stop and can’t wait!!

We will report back soon!
