Hello from the beautiful beaches of Thailand!
Krabi has been such a great time! On Monday, we went on a Kayak adventure. Eric was out in the lead as he lead our group on a 13 kilometer trip through rivers, mangroves, and canyons. At one point, we were able to bring our kayaks onto a sandbar and go for a swim. It was a great way to explore the beautiful rock formations and take in some nature. We even saw monkeys and lizards during this trek- Lauren F. has awesome pictures, as she paddled her to get her kayak up close and personal!
On Tuesday, we completed our last day of service. We started at the Khao Tong School, where we were able to work with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Walking into any of these classrooms, you could see Abby, Perri, Hayley H., and Ali leading students through alphabet, color, and modes of transportation lessons. We finished our time there playing musical chairs. Georgia put on some music and the kids went crazy! Following lunch, the 5th grade class went with our group to plant trees in a nearby mangrove. It was a cool way to work with both others and the environment.
Tuesday night we celebrated Jordan’s birthday with cake and ice cream. Afterward, we played a fun game of “Jeopardy.” The birthday girl had us all laughing whenever she “buzzed in” to answer a question. Haley B. rocked at the “vowels” category, but in the end, Andy carried his team to victory.
Wednesday was our snorkel and scuba adventure. Most of our group decided to be adventurous and try Scuba diving for the first time. Sammi, Jeremy, and Carly all raved about how amazing it was! Meryl and Rachel had a great dive with their instructors and are looking forward to doing it again.
And that brings us today…. which is Becca’s birthday! What a better way to spend your sweet 16 other than island hopping? Our group went by long tail boat to Railay Bay. Once there, we took a short hike to visit a cave, an amazing overlook, and a beach. Lauren K. was swimming around all morning! From there, we visited Chicken Island, and then finished off with a quick snorkel stop.
Tomorrow we head back to Bangkok, and then we will be making our way back to the USA on Saturday. It really has been an amazing experience! Thank you for following along with our blog. Happy adventures and safe travels everyone!
