Wow! Our time in Chiang Mai flew by. Our first full day was on Thursday, during which we experienced the flight of the gibbon. This zip-ling park was amazing, as we completed over 20 lines, bridges and repels. You could hear Abby and Hayley H screaming with excitement. Jeremy was able to snap a few mid air photos of the group. On Friday we went on a bike tour that explored three local temples. Carly and Perri set the pace for our group. To get to the fourth temple on the tour, we had to drive up the mountain and take a cable car to the top. Not only did we get a taste of the culture, we had an amazing view of Chiang Mai.
Saturday was a great day for our group. In the morning we attended a Muay Thai kickboxing clinic. Our trip members are fierce! Ali, Haley B and Becca were not afraid to show off their skills in the ring. At any given time, you can see Eric, doing some work on a heavy bag, Lauren S, working on her kicks, or Georgia jabbing with her instructor. We had so much fun and worked up quite the appetite. To satisfy our hunger, we attended a cooking class at the Chiang Mai cooking school. We made a spicy prawn soup, pad thai (one of Rachel’s favorites), green curry, and baked banana cake (Jordan’s was amazing). No worries, we were all given a cookbook, so perhaps your favorite trip member will whip up an authentic Thai dinner when they return. Following dinner, we went and saw an actually Muay Thai match at a local arena. This was definitely of Andy’s highlights of the trip. You could hear Sammi cheering on all of the local athletes, and many of the girls including Lauren K and Meryl were sporting their kickboxing shorts and t-shirts. It looks like our group are all fans of the sport now.
On Sunday we travelled to Krabi. We are all settled into our last major stop of the trip. We have a few more adventures, and one final day of service ahead of us. It is hard to believe our good times are coming to an end. More Soon…
