Hello Parents and Friends of Cali and the Canyons,
It’s been an eventful week and our trip members have just begun to enjoy their Hollywood experience. Our week began with camping in Lake Tahoe, where our group worked together to create a wonderful camping experience. Jesse, our very own Iron Chef, manned the grill at dinner time, and might have even put Bobby Flay to shame. We had an amazing opportunity to sail the beautiful, blue waters of Tahoe on our own private boat, and Julia and Shayna were able to share a dance on the lido deck.
From Tahoe, we made our way to Ventura. After blitzing our camp set up, (because let’s be honest, our Trip Members are pros) our trip spent a day relaxing at the beach, complete with the Westcoast Connection ‘Subway’ experience. That night we headed to the movies but not before we manned the kitchen and pumped out a plethora of delicious steak, chicken and salmon.
All packed up, and with the group teetering on the edge of their seats, we made our way to the famous Universal Studios in Hollywood. Our Fourth of July started out with Max belting out the lyrics to God Bless the USA, and with our trip members clad in their red, white, and blue we were off for a great day! Everyone had a great day riding the rides and experiencing the newest attraction on the tram tour – Fast and the Furious – it was awesome. After dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, we drove off into the sunset with the Universal fireworks wishing us well as we made our way to UCLA.
Campus life has gotten off to an excellent start. After breakfast we made our way to Venice beach, where we checked out the famous “muscle beach”, the boardwalk and even got the chance to catch an amazing street dancing performance. As the day turned to night, we settled in at the famous Improv comedy club, where we were treated to some outstanding comedians. Some trip members took the brunt of the jokes but were good sports about it. Max even took a selfie with the headliner!
As our star studded L.A experience continues, we are ready to cast our star on the city.
