California and the Canyons gears up for some camping, Westcoast style!

The wake-up call came. A Starbucks, bagel, and Jamba Juice run later, and the crew was off to Lake Tahoe. On our way, we stopped near Reno, Nevada to go white-water rafting. The rapids took us from the country side right into the city. It was pretty neat waving to the local onlookers as we were coming down five foot drops and rushing rapids.
After white water rafting, we made our way to our destination for our evening at Lake Tahoe. We knew right away that we had cross “stateline” and left Nevada to California once the casino lights stopped flashing all around us. Luckily, by the time we arrived, the campsite was already set up – the water was boiling for our tortellini. Kassie, Zach, and Jordan were eager to eat after a long day, and made their way straight to the kitchen to join the cooking crew. Robbie was the first to impress us with his veggie chopping skills, while Ivna sliced a mean tomato.
For dessert, we made ourselves some delicious s’mores by the campfire before heading off to bed – our first night camping. In the morning, everyone was looking forward to a chill day by the beach. But the highlight of the day was the tubing, waterskiing, and wakeboarding. Cole and Kyra had near flawless wakeboard runs as they were catching the wakes amid clear skies, clear waters, and tall mountains in the background. We probably could not master all the tricks we wanted to pull off because we were too busy admiring the view. For the evening activity, we were put into groups and had to write a song that best expressed ourselves. Maxy and Zach were the masterminds behind the winning group’s tune, and as a prize, the group got first dibs on the fruit fondue. After everyone had their fill of chocolate coated bananas, strawberries, and pineapples, it was time to head off to bed. We are getting psyched for LA!
We will speak again soon!
