What’s going on in and around LA from California and the Canyons!

Our stay at UCLA has been so much fun!!!! LA has sure been exciting–from walking around town to amusement parks. The city has been an overall favorite for Kendra.
We arrived in Los Angeles in the morning to kick off a day at Universal Studios. We all took the world famous studio tour together, and saw the set of films such as Psycho and the real houses from the TV show Desperate Housewives. Alberto, Rosita, and Emily found the tour to be the highlight of LA. We walked around the amusement park and went on rides like The Mummy and The Simpsons, which Eliza really loved.
Our second day in LA, we got to use the UCLA facilities including the gym, the pool, and the basketball court. After a quick lunch in Westwood Village, we headed out to Rodeo Drive. Our night was a perfect ending when we went to the famous Hollywood Improv for a night of laughs. Our front row seats made us a good target for the comedians and Sy said that it was his favorite part of the trip so far.
The next day we headed off to the Museum of Tolerance. It was a really enlightening trip for everyone. We were lucky enough to hear an inspirational story from Matthew Boger, who was a victim of a hate crime. His story truly impacted Lisa and other campers to always remember to be tolerant towards all kinds of people. After the museum we headed to Venice Beach for lunch and some exploring, which Ben enjoyed because it reminded him of the Jersey Shore. We went over to Manns Chinese theatre for dinner and pictures with movie stars’ hand prints and the Hollywood sign. Fiamma really liked seeing the names of the famous celebrities on the walk of fame.
Our last day in the City of Angels was magical, to say the least. We started off by giving back to the community at the Los Angeles Food Bank, which is the second largest food bank in the nation. We really enjoyed it and were happy to help those in need. We sorted peaches, itemized food and helped out with labels. The peaches crew enjoyed themselves with a friendly competition, which Allie really enjoyed.
After helping out we went to the happiest place on Earth–Disneyland, which Jessica loved! We all walked around and went on It’s A Small World, took character pictures, and raced down Splash Mountain. We ended our night at Disney with fireworks, but when we headed back to UCLA our night wasn’t over yet. We celebrated Samantha’s birthday with all 55 of us with singing and birthday cake.
It’s incredible to believe our trip is halfway over and tomorrow begins our last stop in California!! We know the best is still to come and can’t wait to continue our adventure!
