Cruisin’ With The American Voyageur

They’re cruising – the Pacific coast onboard the Carnival Paradise and the Vegas strip. The latest from the Voyageur!

The Westcoast Blogger

It’s been a wild few days here on trip 2 with the last 6 days spent cruising the Pacific and cruising the strip. We boarded the Carnival Paradise around lunch time and started by introducing the kids to the buffet at “The Paris Restaurant”. This is where we ate a great breakfast and lunch everyday. After lunch it was off to drop our stuff in our rooms and up to the pool to chill, ride the slide, swim and even do line dances with the live DJ! The afternoon flew by and we were soon off to our first dinner in the “Destiny Dining Room”. That’s where we all met and started loving our favorite waiter Deden who soon became a good friend! Ben, Charlie, Ethan and Scott made sure they sat at his table every night! He was funny and eager to please. This was also the dinner when we discovered the “chocolate molten” dessert that we all continued to enjoy nightly! Liz and Alex talked about it all day in anticipation and often ordered more than one! After dinner we set off to see our first cruise show which was “Game Show Mania”. That’s where Deena won the first round by correctly identifying TV theme songs and dancing a mean chicken dance. Jake and Melanie competed in the second round and Jake walked away with a medal! Then it was off to the teen club “O2” to dance the night away alongside other teens!

The next day we docked in Catalina and disembarked the ship to go kayaking, snorkeling and exploring. The weather was great and Matt B., Ian, Liz, Alex, Ethan and Matt F. made sure they kept cool by having an ice cream snack. Soon enough we were headed back to the ship to get ready for our “formal night”. Everyone got all dolled up and Jordana even got to wear her new shoes! That night after dinner we all went to a comedy show which featured a Vegas ventriloquist! Then we headed back to “O2” for an hour or so followed by some time gazing at the stars on the pool deck before heading to bed.

Next stop was Ensenata, Mexico where we saw sea lions and walked the streets to see the shops. Charlie bought a blanket and a mask, Ben and Ethan bought sombreros and pretty soon we heading back to the ship, souvenirs in tow, to have lunch and relax the afternoon away. Some played minigolf, some went to the gym and others played ping-pong. There was definitely no shortage of activities on the boat!

The next day was our ‘at sea’ day so we enjoyed a much deserved sleep in. After lunch we played cards (no, not in the casino!!), worked out, played mini golf, danced some line dances on the deck and ate more frozen yogurt than any of us would like to admit! That night, at our last dinner, we all stayed back a little later than usual to see the waiters and waitresses sing their song and do their dance and after a huge round of applause for our personal dining staff, we were outta there and headed to some free time before the club. After the club we made our way back to our cabins with high expectations for our next stop in Vegas!! We all made it off the ship and onto our bus in high spirits! I will write again in a few days with highlights from Vegas and our visit to Bryce and Zion.
