Greetings from Rincon de la Vieja!
The past few days have been really incredible and we have been growing even closer as a community.
We spent three nights staying at a beautiful hotel right on the bottom of Arenal Volcano. We couldn’t believe how close we were to a live Volcano!
The 4th of July was an extra exciting day because not only was it American Independence Day but also Jacob’s Birthday! We celebrated his birthday on an adventure day! We went Canyoning, and rappelled down a series of waterfalls and cliffs. We are all quickly turning into thrill seekers!
Upon leaving Arenal, we made our way to Flamingo Beach where we got a great mix of adventure and community service. We helped repaint a small school for two days and were extremely proud to see our work come together and see how much of a difference we made in such a short time. Jacob and Alex loved working with our local project leader Carlos and were amazed with how dedicated he was to beautifying his school.
Our group had a lot of fun surfing in Tamarindo and was so amazed with how many waves we caught! Lauren and Max looked like professional surfers!
Then, we stayed in a beautiful resort Hacienda Guachipelin, where we were immersed in the beauty of Costa Rica. We went zip lining and we could not stop talking about the beautiful views we got to see from above. We also went horseback riding that afternoon. The rain made it a true adventure! Koral and Shiran especially loved riding on their horses!
The next day we went on a hike to a local waterfall and got to swim in the falls. Molly loved splashing around in the waterfall and wouldn’t let the cold water bring her down! That afternoon we went to the mud baths on our resort property and rejuvenated our skin!
We can’t believe we are already halfway through our trip and are eager to continue on and volunteer at Habitat For Humanity in the coming days!
Until next time,
Community Service Costa Rica.
