Welcome to the Californian Extravaganza Blog! Everyone arrived safely and for the most part on time in Denver and we immediately started playing games and learning about each other. We have an awesome group and I am so excited for the next 28 days. After arriving at the University of Colorado Boulder we went for dinner at The Sink, a trendy restaurant with an amazing reputation—which I can confidently say is well deserved. It has an amazing atmosphere and the Trip Members had so much fun signing their names on the ceiling, a restaurant tradition. Even President Obama has eaten there and signed his name! After our delicious meal and having some laughs and good conversation we headed to the University of Colorado Boulder Bowling Alley. This was a great opportunity for some of the Trip Members to show off their stellar bowling skills and experience some friendly competition. After the first action packed day, we headed off to bed at the University Dorms and got our beauty sleep!
The next day breakfast at the university, was delicious as there was so much variety and everyone was full of energy and excited for the upcoming activities. It was Canada Day, and seeing as there are some Canadians on the trip, we had a lot of fun celebrating! Some of us wore red and white, and many of the Trip Members and staff had a lot of fun putting on temporary tattoos with Canadian themed images. This allowed the group to bond, and even had those not from Canada getting into the spirit! We spent the day on a scenic bike ride through Boulder, had lunch on famous Pearl Street and then made our way over to Elitch Gardens, an amazing amusement park located in Denver. We had so much fun going on all of the different rides, and Lexi even convinced me to go on an upside down rollercoaster! To finish off our jam-packed day we headed over to Jump Street, an indoor trampoline park. This was such a fun finale to our day. There was a mechanical bull, a trampoline basketball court and a huge foam pit! Julia B, Kara, Darian, and Margo all had so much fun on the mechanical bull, while some of the boys had a friendly game of dodge ball!
These first few days have been so much fun! We have already shared so many laughs and I know that this month is going to be incredible. We are headed off to Jackson Wyoming for some good old fashioned camping, luxury style and to check out the Tetons and Yellowstone.
Look for another blog sometime over the next 5-6 days.
