Bonjour de Paris!
Nous sommes tous arriver et notre aventure est commencer!! (We have arrived and started our adventure!!)
Day 1 began with trip members arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport early Sunday morning. After plenty of name games and immediate laughs, everyone came together to tackle our first European adventure — navigating the Parisian train and metro with our bags on our backs. Once we checked into our hotel rooms, we wasted no time as we began to discover the neighborhood of Montmartre. En route to a beautifully crowded park, we stopped to enjoy two famous French delicacies: delicious crepes and paninis!
Trip director Rob spoke to the group about the amazing times we would have, the various challenges we might face and the numerous opportunities to learn over the course of our adventures in Europe. After a day of travelling and exploring, we made our way to a cute French restaurant where we were serenaded by a boisterous French folk duo-waiter combo.
But our day was not over yet! Following dinner we made our way to the Eiffel Tower just in time to hear and see a famous French YouTube star pop his head out of the limousine. Within a few seconds, hundreds of teenage and young adult Parisians were sprinting towards and cheering on their idol. The evening ended with us taking in the view of Paris from above and with thousands of pictures taken of the Eiffel Tower all lit up!
We woke up on day 2 excited for another day filled with new sights. The day kicked off with a biking tour to get a sense of the many arrondissements (or neighborhoods) that make up Paris’ vibrant culture and rode past some of the most iconic Parisian landmarks. We stopped for lunch in the Latin Quarter and finished off our meal with some ice cream from a bakery that is, according to our tour guide, considered to have the best ice cream in the city.
In the afternoon, small groups explored the sights of Montmartre with a self-guided tour competition that included the gleaming Sacre Coeur – definitely worth the climb all the way to the top! After a jam-packed day, we relaxed at night with an activity called “Human Silhouettes,” which offered a time for everyone to reflect about culture shock, adventures, goals, and the rest of the trip. It definitely brought our group closer together and made us all excited for the next few days to come!
It has been a packed, amazing first couple days, and we can’t wait to see what else was in store. Its crazy to think that three days ago, we didn’t even know one another! Our trip has amazing chemistry and we’ve reflected on how incredibly fast we’ve become a caring, supportive, hilarious, adventurous, close community – c’est incroyable!
Our European adventure has just started and it is already off to an unstoppable start!
