After a very relaxing ferry ride, we stepped on shore and were welcomed by the beautiful weather in Santorini! As soon as we walked off the boat, everyone’s eyes widened and their mouths dropped as the beautiful coast of the island surrounded us; it’s safe to say that all of us have been anticipating this moment for the entire trip! Upon arrival, we settled into the incredibly beautiful El Greco hotel outside of Thira. After that, we walked into town for our first dinner in Santorini. We enjoyed delicious seafood and traditional Greek cuisine while watching our first sunset on the island!
The next morning, we were ready for adventure, so we boarded a cable car to take us down to the Old Port. We hopped on to the Odysseus Ship, which took us all around the islands of Santorini. Starting at the center of the islands, we climbed up the center volcano and felt the warm air coming out of the top; it was one of the coolest experiences thus far! After, we drifted off to one of the hot springs, and everyone jumped in the water and swam around. The water was warm, and many of us soaked our skin with the clay from the rocks.
Lastly, we stopped at another small island for lunch, enjoying some beautiful scenery on the water. Later that evening, we ventured around the town of Thira again, enjoying some delicious Greek sweets. We then woke up to another beautiful day, which we began by venturing to the old archaeological site of Santorini, where our tour guide showed us one of the ancient cities on the island; it was incredible to see that many of these ancient structures were still fully intact! After, we went down to the black sand beach, where we snorkeled, kayaked, and paddle-boarded all afternoon. The water was crystal clear, and the view of the ocean was breathtaking! The kayakers paddled into one of Blackrock’s caves, which was one of the most surreal experiences of the trip by far! We went back to the hotel to relax, and got ready for blue & white night in Oia. We all looked like the Greek flag, had a great dinner and watched yet another island sunset – it was amazing!
When we woke up, we got back on the ferry to head to Athens. We arrived and relaxed before our final banquet. Our final night was a Murder Mystery-themed dinner with the Greek gods and goddesses. It was so much fun to act out the roles of Zeus, Poseidon, Aphrodite, and more! Although we were sad about the trip ending, we enjoyed our last night together by eating a delicious meal and reminiscing on all the adventures we’ve had the last 24 days. We will always treasure the incredible memories we made on this trip, and we can’t wait to see each other again one day!
