Thai-me to Say Goodbye! – Thailand Community Service

We’re back in Bangkok! After an exhilarating experience in Chiang Mai, it was hard to imagine what Thailand could surprise us with next. We ziplined, hung out with elephants, kickboxed, and made new friends at one of the local elementary schools. We said our goodbyes, packed our bags, and made our way to the airport for the next leg of our adventure – the beautiful beaches of Krabi.

The next day, we made our way to Ao Tha Lane where we would be spending the day kayaking. With sunscreen on and GoPros in hand, we spent the day paddling through the mangroves of Ao Tha and enjoying the massive natural stalagmites. We were surrounded by lush green mangroves and stopped at a variety of hidden beaches to get refreshed and reenergized. It was a great day of fun in the sun with a delicious lunch by the sea.

The next day, we hopped on a boat and began our journey to the beautiful sandy beaches of Poda Island and Chicken Island. Our snorkel stop was amazing, as trip members enjoyed a jump in the waters off the coast of Chicken Island (the island even has a cliff with the head of a chicken!). After snorkelling and a quick stop on Chicken Island, we continued our adventure to Poda Island. Here, our tribe enjoyed the calm and warm waters of the island, while catching some rays on the beach and having a great photo shoot! Afterwards, we packed our towels and sunscreen and hopped back on our boat back to shore.

We woke up to the sun in the sky as we prepared for another day on the water – this time for some scuba diving and snorkeling off the islands of Phi Phi. We enjoyed a bumpy boat ride to our first dive spot, and our scuba instructors taught us the ins and outs we needed to know for our first dive before we put on our gear and jumped in. We went two students per instructor and explored the waters below. Mitch was even lucky enough to meet a stingray while Maya got some incredible shots on her GoPro!

On our last day in Krabi, the fun in the sun wasn’t done!  We made our way via long-tail boat to the beautiful and picturesque beaches of Railay Bay, where we spent the day in the water and enjoyed a delicious seaside lunch at one of the island hotels. Lots of pictures were taken and laughs were shared as we cleaned the sand out of our sandals for the last time in Krabi.

The next morning, we woke up and headed to the airport to make our way back to Bangkok. Our guides took us to the train market to see the local commuter train pass within inches of the local merchant stands, and then we went to the floating markets of Bangkok for some final souvenir purchasing.

But alas, tomorrow is the last day of our incredible and exciting adventure in Thailand. Between the hundreds of pictures, souvenirs, and memories among our tribe, you can be sure that we’ll never forget this once in a lifetime experience.
