The Amazing Race: Rome Edition – On Tour Backpack France, Switzerland, & Italy

We have reached the final destination of our backpacking adventure which is the one and only Rome! After stopping en route to visit the ancient city of Pompeii, we arrived here in time to visit the Spanish steps and have dinner in the area. Julia M. And Mateo had lots of fun dancing to the tunes of a street musician. Cori then lead the way to a famous gelato shop called Giolitti, which Hayley claims was the best gelato she has had in Italy! We then stopped at the Trevi fountain where we tossed in coins, hoping the legend holds true and that we will all soon return to Rome!

The next morning, we woke up ready to discover some more of the city and all it has to offer. Jonny really liked exploring the catacombs. The Amazing Race-Rome edition was a huge hit. Matt, Maria, Avery and Julia M. stole the show as they were the first to come back with all of their tasks complete, including having taken a group picture by the pantheon! Jason lead his team through the clues with so much enthusiasm.

Taylor and Ariel enjoyed a Nutella calzone that they discovered in Trastavere. Misha realized the best way to keep cool on these hot sunny days is by drinking refreshing strawberry granitas!

Holly and Julia W. befriended Marilena, who was our tour guide for the Roman Forum, Vatican and Coliseum. They asked lots of questions, and really got the most out of the amazing experience! Kayla and Marta were very impressed by the Sistine chapel. We had a traditional Roman style dinner as we dressed up in Togas and danced our way through the meal. Rachel and Matt W. were swept away by the singing and dancing Roman Goddess who entertained us throughout dinner. It was a fun and authentic last dinner as a group.
