The forces of nature have shaped and colored the landscape of the American Southwest and Hawaiian Islands like no other setting. You will be amazed by the raw, majestic beauty of the Rockies, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon and stunning Maui & Kauai. Experience these wonders with adventure activities that get your heart racing, then lay back and chill under starlit skies. Surf through paradise, kayak, snorkel, river tube and so much more in the Aloha State. Take in iconic sights and formations at Maroon Bells, Horseshoe Bend, and Arches National Park on this Western U.S. & Hawaii Adventure tour for teens. If your idea of an incredible summer is about breathtaking views, wide-open spaces, action, adventure, surrounded by your friendly, welcoming and close-knit Ohana!
This itinerary combines two separate programs: 21-day Colorado, Utah & Arizona Adventure and 14-day Hawaii Adventure. Participants also have the option to extend their stay in Hawaii by 6 additional days to explore the Big Island!

This program combines two separate programs.
Fly to Denver and head directly to Boulder where your orientation officially begins with some of our favorite icebreakers and “get to know you” activities.
Start your summer adventure taking in spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains while hiking the Flatirons. Stand-up paddleboard in Boulder Reservoir. Enjoy dinner in the historic downtown Pearl Street promenade with your new friends.
Take on Rocky Mountain rapids as you whitewater raft the Arkansas River. Continue your adrenaline-filled stay in Buena Vista with a rock climbing and rappelling adventure. Spend an afternoon relaxing in natural hot springs with new friends. Challenge yourself at a high ropes course with beautiful views of the Arkansas River and Browns Canyon.
Experience thrill rides at America’s only mountain-top theme park, home to the Glenwood Canyon Flyer, Alpine Coaster and Cliffhanger Rollercoaster. Enjoy the park’s breathtaking, panoramic views before unwinding in the famous Glenwood Hot Springs.
Vail, Colorado
Check out Vail, one of the finest alpine resorts in the world. Eat lunch and explore the village that is surrounded by 350,000 acres of national forest.
Aspen, Colorado
Hike through wildflower fields at Maroon Bells and visit beautiful Crater Lake at over 10,000 feet elevation. Enjoy a game of disc golf on a mountainside course with new friends in neighboring Snowmass. Take the evening to explore the celebrated mountain town of Aspen for dinner.
The adventure continues as you hike and mountain bike by red-hued arches during the day and stargaze at night, taking in all the natural wonders Arches National Park has to offer. Thrills continue with a Via Ferrata climbing adventure. View Moab’s deep craters and desert landscape while you dare to free-fall rappel. Enjoy views on the stunning mesa of Dead Horse Point State Park where you can look down 2,000 feet to the Colorado River.
Marvel at the tall, thin, red spires of rock known as “hoodoos”, which are found throughout this iconic canyon. Get a glimpse into the Wild West with a horseback ride past outlaw hideouts and plenty of dramatic desert views in Bryce Canyon National Park. See what being a cowboy is all about during a real western rodeo experience.
Spend a day descending some of the earth’s most beautiful geological formations on a canyoning adventure. You’ll rappel, climb and wade through canyon pools on this unique experience. A visit to this national park wouldn’t be complete without a hike around the sandstone cliffs of Zion, that offer views of the Virgin River that flows through the canyon to the Emerald Pools.
Enjoy the Coral Sand Dunes with soft, pinkish sand formed from the erosion of pink-colored Navajo Sandstone. It’s like a big sandbox! Explore more of the Colorado River with a hike to Horseshoe Bend, a uniquely shaped curve in the river that offers a stunning, expansive view with a breathtaking 1,000-foot drop. Desert beauty continues with a winding hike through Lower Antelope Canyon where views change by the hour as the sun’s position casts an array of shadows, color, and light on the curved canyon walls. Cool off with a swim in Lake Powell.
Grand Canyon
Visit the jewel of the American Southwest with a hike on the South Rim. Admire the ancient rock walls and rolling forests of Ponderosa pines, while keeping a lookout for elk, mule deer and condors. At 7,000 feet, you won’t want to leave this incredible view.
Experience a rugged off-road adventure on a 4×4 Pink Jeep tour of Sedona’s desert landscape. See the views from Submarine Rock or Chicken Point and hold on tight as you descend down the Road of No Return. Enjoy beautiful Uptown Sedona surrounded by red-rock buttes and pine forests.
Stop en route to Phoenix at Sunset Point to take in the breathtaking views of Black Canyon. Spend the afternoon soaking up the rays at the beautiful resort pool, relax and enjoy the hotel facilities and get ready for an action packed adventure in Hawaii where you meet a new set of friends!
Arrive in Maui and get to know your new set of friends through some more of our favorite icebreakers and “get to know you” activities. Enjoy Maui’s crystal blue waters as you surf, outrigger canoe and snorkel your way around the island. Hike the Iao Valley, Haleakala Crater, and the beautiful Twin Falls. You’ll leave the island feeling like a local after learning traditional lei making techniques and experiencing an authentic luau!
Hop back in the water for kayaking and a thrilling backcountry tubing adventure through caves. Enjoy a Wailua River boat tour and brief nature walk through the rainforest to the lush Fern Grotto, Kauai’s geological wonder. Enjoy breathtaking views hiking the Waimea Canyon and exploring Makauwahi Cave Reserve’s rich history. Immerse yourself in true Hawaiian culture by trying local cuisine and learning a traditional Hula dance!

Located on the beach, the Kauai Shores Hotel will serve as your base while you experience the Garden Isle’s natural beauty. It features a swimming pool, a large courtyard, and air-conditioned rooms.
Flight to Denver, Colorado
This trip begins with your flight to Denver, Colorado. We help you coordinate your flight to arrive within designated times so that we may greet you upon arrival. For participants from the New York area, we offer a chaperoned flight that leaves from the New York area. One of our summer leaders and staff from our office will be at the airline counter to greet you, introduce you to fellow travelers, help you to check-in and the leader will be with you from check-in onward.
Internal Flights
Separate from the airfare to and from this program, there is an additional $665 USD fee for internal flights from Phoenix to Maui.
Return Flight Home from Kauai, Hawaii
For your return flight from Kauai, our leaders help you to check-in and remain in the airport until flights in designated times have departed. Depending on the number of students from the New York area we may offer a chaperoned flight.
Meals
Eating well while away from home is an important part of a summer’s success. We understand how it helps our travelers feel secure, happy and looking forward to their day.
We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, anaphylactic food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.
Laundry
You will only need to bring one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. We visit local laundromats weekly and we will supply the detergent and dryer sheets. Don’t worry if you’ve never done laundry before, we’ll show you the ropes. Parents, we know the thought of your children doing laundry is making you smile!
What’s Included
Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, 5 lunches, recreation & entertainment listed, airport transfers in designated times, gratuities & taxes.
Not included is transportation to and from the program, internal airfare, lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, and laundry. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
