Nature is everywhere in the Pacific Northwest & California! From beautiful coastlines, to lush forests and spectacular mountains – experience the awe-inspiring diverse landscapes of Oregon, Washington, and the Golden State. The Sierra Nevada Mountains, Yosemite National Park and the cliff-lined beaches in Santa Cruz offer an adventure you will never forget. Whether it’s whitewater rafting, biking, kayaking in Monterey Bay or hiking through gorgeous ranges – you will be bonding alongside like-minded travelers looking for adventure and fun through the wilderness and beyond. Your incredible leaders will share in the action as you explore sea lion caves and surf the Pacific Ocean waves. Take lots of pictures so you can show everyone back at home all the beautiful sights!

This program combines two separate programs.
• Whitewater raft the Deschutes River and the rapids of the American River.
• Rock climb in Yosemite National Park and Smith Rock State Park.
• Ski or snowboard the slopes of Mt. Hood.
• Waterski, wakeboard, kneeboard or tube Lake Tahoe.
• Hike Mount Rainier National Park: Silver Falls Trail, Crystal Mountain & Tipsoo Lake.
• Alpine slide at Mt. Hood Adventure Park.
• Sandboard and dune buggy through the Oregon Sand Dunes.
• Visit Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and the Golden Gate Bridge.
• Check out the Sea Lion Caves along the Pacific Ocean.
• Learn to surf with professional instructors in Santa Cruz and Ocean Shores.
• Hike the Three Sisters along the Pacific Crest Trail.
• Marvel at the giant sequoia trees as you hike through Mariposa Grove.
• Kayak the beautiful Salmon River and gorgeous Monterey Bay.
• Explore the Columbia River Gorge & Multnomah Falls.
• Toss fish with the Pike Place fishmongers.
• Zipline through the Sierra Nevada Mountains for extraordinary views.
Fly to Portland, where your orientation begins with some of our favorite icebreakers and “get to know you” activities. Explore the largest National Scenic Area in America, Columbia River Gorge & the 611-foot-tall roaring cascade of the Multnomah Falls.
Ride the Magic Mile chairlift to the Palmer Glacier for unforgettable skiing* or snowboarding* on the only mountain in North America to offer year-round snow activities, or enjoy amazing mountain biking. At speeds up to 37 mph, race down a half-mile of twists, turns and s-curves on an alpine slide at the Skibowl.

Splash down the Deschutes River while whitewater rafting through thrilling rapids. Learn to rock climb with professional instructors at Smith Rock State Park. Hike the gorgeous Three Sisters along the Pacific Crest Trail in the Cascade Range.
Explore some of the world’s most impressive natural sand dunes! Hop on a sand board to ride down, and the next day buckle up in a dune buggy tour. Soak up some rays at the beach before searching for sea lions in the local caves.
Marvel at the stunning scenery and wildlife of the Oregon coastline as you kayak along the Salmon River.
Ride the Pacific Ocean waves with professional surf lessons.
Load up on water and hiking gear as you hike the beautiful ranges of Mount Rainier National Park. Trek the Silver Falls Trail, Crystal Mountain, Tipsoo Lake and more! Ride the Mount Rainier Gondola for incredible views of the breathtaking mountain views.
Toss fish with the Pike Place fishmongers. Although recently cleaned, participate in the rebirth of the infamous tradition and stick your gum on the Market Theater Gum wall. Rock out in front of a virtual audience On Stage at the Museum of Popular Culture (MoPoP). Take in Seattle, 518′ off the ground at the top of the Space Needle. Buckle up for Whirlyball, a team sport that combines elements of basketball and lacrosse in bumper cars.
Say goodbye to each other before you head off to San Francisco to meet a new set of friends!
Fly to San Francisco and get to know your new set of friends through some more of our favorite icebreakers and “get to know you” activities. Hop on a famous cable car for a ride to Lombard Street and enjoy beautiful views of the city skyline from the hilly streets. Explore Pier 39 and see its famous residents (the sea lions) before having dinner near Fisherman’s Wharf.
Soar through the picturesque Sierra Nevada Mountains on a thrilling zipline adventure. Take on the rapids as you whitewater raft the American River. Enjoy a day trip to beautiful Lake Tahoe where you can unwind under the California sunshine and go waterskiing, wakeboarding or tubing with professional instructors.
Venture deeper into the Sierra Nevada Mountains as you travel to Yosemite National Park, famous for its giant ancient sequoia trees. Hike for fantastic views of North America’s tallest waterfall, Yosemite Falls. Spruce up your rock climbing skills with professional mountaineering guides. Look in awe at the giant sequoias trees in Mariposa Grove.
Four-person surrey bike the coastline of the Monterey Peninsula with spectacular views of the water! Enjoy dinner and an evening surprise at Cannery Row.
Learn to surf with professional instructors. Get ready to sea kayak in the beautiful Monterey Bay before heading to the Wharf for lunch. Enjoy dinner in Downtown Santa Cruz before exploring the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk at night for some seaside entertainment.
Visit the Golden Gate Bridge for spectacular views of Alcatraz and the Bay. Spend the afternoon on a leisurely bike ride exploring the city.
Say farewell to your new friends as you part ways for your return home. The summer might be over, but all the memories you’ve made will last a lifetime!

Sierra Nevada Mountains, California

Santa Cruz, California
The spectacular 2000-acre campus of the University of California Santa Cruz is nestled among the redwoods at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Monterey Bay. The campus is a local attraction in and of itself with modern facilities that will impress.
Flight to Portland, Oregon This trip begins with your flight to Portland, Oregon. We help you coordinate your flight to arrive within designated times so that we may greet you upon arrival. For participants from the New York area, we offer a chaperoned flight that leaves from the New York area. One of our summer leaders and staff from our office will be at the airline counter to greet you, introduce you to fellow travelers, help you to check-in and the leader will be with you from check-in onward.
Internal Flights Separate from the airfare to and from this program, there is an additional $150 USD fee for internal flights from Seattle to San Francisco.
Return Flight Home from San Francisco, California For your return home from San Francisco, California, we head to the airport for morning flights. Our leaders help you to check-in and remain in the airport until flights in designated times have departed. For those from the New York area, we offer a chaperoned flight.
Food and Meals Eating well while away from home is an important part of a summer’s success. We understand how it helps our travelers feel secure, happy and looking forward to their day.
We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, anaphylactic food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.
Laundry You will only need to bring one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. We visit local laundromats weekly and we will supply the detergent and dryer sheets. Don’t worry if you’ve never done laundry before, we’ll show you the ropes. Parents, we know the thought of your children doing laundry is making you smile!
What’s Included Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, recreation & entertainment listed, airport transfers in designated times, gratuities & taxes.
Not included is transportation to and from the program, internal airfare, lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, and laundry. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
