Get offline and in-person and enjoy the perfect summer surrounded by natural beauty in the pristine New England community of Lyndon, Vermont. This stay-in-place summer program gives teens a chance to choose their schedule from a wide selection of personal interests, sports, enriching courses and fun recreation. Walk to the quaint town and get active in the neighboring Binney Woods forest located on Burke Mountain. This program is all about choice so take your pick from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, basketball, tennis, golf and more. You will leave this program feeling refreshed and truly believe the saying, “I LOVERMONT”.

Lyndon Institute Campus
Enjoy this private and incredible campus situated in one of the most scenic areas in Vermont. This 130-acre pristine campus hosts 34 buildings, gymnasium, auditorium, arts center, academic commons and seven residences. The 300-acre Binney Woods forest, located on Burke Mountain, provides ample outdoor recreation opportunities.
Our Residences
Our residences feature a mix of single and double rooms with shared bathrooms. Each room provides a desk, closet, and Wi-Fi and are situated near the dining hall, fitness center, classrooms, and athletic fields.
Athletic Facilities, Track, Basketball & More
Stay active with complimentary access to Lyndon’s facilities. Enjoy the weight training equipment and cardio machines at the Fitness Center. Break a sweat playing basketball, volleyball, or soccer. Go for a run on the track or hike the adjacent Simpson Nature Trail. You will have access to arrange a game of tennis or go for a swim nearby.
Organized Sports & Games
Our sports coordinator organizes games of all kinds outside of class time. Play a game of ultimate Frisbee, tennis, soccer, football, softball or basketball.
Positive Social Experience
This program is designed to give you a taste of the excitement and independence you will experience in college. Just like in college, you will be part of a large group of students, live in a residence, and have your choice of classes and personal interest activities. And like in college, you will enjoy a warm, family environment within your residence where you enjoy many opportunities to socialize with other students.
Golf Afternoon
Improve your golf game. With time split between instruction and play you’ll be able to focus on improving your short game, driving, approach shots and putting. You will have access to the driving range and be able to play a round before dinner.

Football Playbook Morning
What goes into the creation of a playbook for football? The game of football has changed in every aspect, including the rules, the equipment, and especially the schemes. Have the schemes changed that much though? Students will look at the evolution of the game, the techniques used, and the way coaches attack opposing schemes.
Personal Fitness: Strength Training & Conditioning Afternoon
A sound mind and body are crucial for a healthy and productive lifestyle. Strength and conditioning are part of forming a sound body. Students will learn the basics of weight training techniques and develop their own workout routine in an environment that is supportive and non-judgemental. No matter what fitness level students are at presently, it can be improved.
Outdoor Pursuits Afternoon
Get Outside and dig deep. Get ready to explore some of the most fascinating features of the Great Northern Forest Ecosystem, while honing your backcountry skills: trekking mountain trails, paddling crystal-clear lakes, examining rich bogs and backwaters on rivers and streams. Each day will be a mini-field science expedition where your naturalist/wilderness guide will help you navigate the backcountry. We'll learn to read tracks, search out elusive plants, watch eagles and osprey soar over the river bends, and occasionally, after a hot day's hike, we might plunge into the cold waterfall-fed pools deep in the mountains.
*This will be an extended course which will continue through the student's choice late afternoon period.
Mountain Bike Tune Up and Ride Afternoon
Students will be introduced to the major bike systems (wheels, brakes, and drive train). Students will have a mix of lab time to learn the basics of bike mechanics with plenty of trail time to advance their biking skills. Over 100 miles of the famous Kingdom Trails are available for beginner to advanced riders.
*A supplementary fee of $195 applies.
*Students must bring their own bike and helmet.
*This is an extended course which will continue through the student's choice late afternoon time period.
Organized Sports & Games Morning Afternoon
Of course we’ll play soccer, volleyball, football and basketball but we’re also going to challenge you to kickball, dodgeball and more!
Martial Arts: Self Defense Afternoon
Gain an understanding of the various origins & styles of martial arts as you learn how to defend yourself and to keep yourself out of dangerous situations. The course will focus on traditional martial arts’ kicks, punches as well as other techniques and defensive moves.
Artist Workshop: Painting & Drawing Morning
Explore watercolor painting by experimenting with various techniques including a variety of brush strokes & brushes, textures, washes, and more. You will create finished pieces as you work through the process from sketching your subject matter and then following through with the painting techniques learned. Walk away with a strong knowledgebase of both drawing and painting.
Creative Writing Morning
Learn to write effective narrative and create characters and settings that jump off the page. Through a mix of guided exercises, you will have an opportunity to experiment with style and structure, learn about plot development, and hone your critical skills while giving and receiving helpful feedback with your fellow writers. At the end of this course, you will return home with a portfolio that you will be excited to share.
Digital Photography Journal Afternoon
For anyone with a passion for photography, no matter your level, learn about digital cameras (shutter speed, aperture, ISO, camera modes) and the basics of composition (lighting, exposure, framing, focus and blur).
* A DSLR or bridge camera with manual functions having at least a 12.0 megapixel sensor is required.
TikTok Dance Morning
Bring the energy! Infused with the latest styles of street dancing, you’ll be breaking, popping, and locking in this Hip hop dance class aimed to have you learning all the moves to your favorite TikTok dances. Bring your own style and personality to the movements. Stepping outside of the box is encouraged!
Acting for Stage and Screen Afternoon
Explore a variety of acting tools and techniques while developing your imagination, creativity and self-confidence. Apply what you’ve learned to solo and group scripts and improvisations.

A spoonful of leadership training, a splash of hands on activities, a taste of team building and a whole lot of fun. Everyday is guaranteed to be different as we bring camp to campus.
Blockchain: From Cryptocurrency to Beyond Morning
Blockchain. Bitcoin. Mining. Tokens. Smart contracts. Get in the know with the lingo you want to be familiar with. Learn about the foundations of blockchain technology, including key terms like decentralization, proof of work and consensus algorithms, and discover their various applications in multiple industries. Hyped as the newest transformative technology, you’ll dive into a deeper understanding of blockchain technology, including an exploration into the world of cryptocurrencies, their rise, their fall and their seemingly endless possibilities for the future.
Aviation: Drones, Planes, and Jets Morning
The world of aviation is changing. From drones to commercial air travel to space exploration. This course is designed to introduce students to all things aviation. The course will be taught by a licensed private pilot and commercial drone pilot, this allows students to have the opportunity to experience flying drones, using a flight simulator, and interacting with real-life general aviation aircraft. The course incorporates curriculum including meteorology, aviation physiology and pilot psychology, aerodynamics, aircraft design, navigation, and flight planning. This fun, hands-on experience class will provide students with both theory and practice in all areas of aviation both current and future.

Personal Finance for Teens: Budgeting, Spending & Saving Afternoon
What is money? How do you manage personal finances? Many high school students graduate with little understanding of budgeting, assets, and liabilities, creating wealth, debt, and setting goals to live the life they want. Dive into the world of financial literacy and walk away with a better understanding of your own money personality and the financial goals you need for your future.
Psychology of Human Behavior Morning
This course is designed to give students an introduction to topics in psychology. The course takes an active learning approach, which is fun and makes the concepts come alive. Given the subject matter, students will also discover a lot more about themselves. Topics will include the scientific method, classical and operant conditioning, sensation and perception, emotions, mental illness, prejudice, positive psychology, memory and how to improve relationships.
Mindfulness For A Lifetime Afternoon
How can individual mindfulness impact our larger communities? Students will investigate and experience a variety of mindfulness strategies and activities that can be used throughout life to reduce stress and enhance overall wellness. Additionally, students will understand the neuroscience behind mindfulness and its benefits.

Adventure Awaits
There’s a lot to be “wowed" by in Vermont as adventure and exploration awaits you. Head out white water rafting, enjoy kayaking on Lake Salem, soak up the sun on the sandy shores of Lake Willoughby and if that’s not enough, challenge yourself on the zip line canopy adventure.
Just Ride
For mountain biking enthusiasts the possibilities are endless. Explore the famous Kingdom Trails featuring over 100 miles of recreational trails.
Take a Hike (we mean it!)
There are many accessible hiking trails close to campus. Hike to Willoughby Lake for gorgeous views followed by a refreshing swim. Arugula Falls is a site not to be missed. Ascend Burke Mountain and explore the extensive trail network.
Day Trips Ahead
Enjoy fireworks in Burlington and splash down the slides at Smuggler’s Notch.
Down the Street - the Town of Lyndonville
A short 5-minute walking trail from campus leads you to town. Choose from one of the local eateries for a weekend lunch or to stock up on snacks for your dorm.
It's All About Choice
During late afternoon student’s choice you can play tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, work out, relax at the pool, practice your yoga, fly fish, learn martial arts or just hang out with your friends.
Choose a morning and afternoon activity or course. Your personal schedule and lunch time may vary based on your choices.
Flight to Boston
As a participant on this program from outside the New York area, you may fly to Boston and be greeted upon arrival for flights in designated times and enjoy complimentary transfer from the airport to our residence. If you prefer, you may be dropped off directly at our residence and meet your staff there. Ground transportation to Vermont is available from NY for $150.
Return Flight Home from Boston
For the 14-day program return from Boston, you may fly to your home city at designated times and our leaders help you to check in and they remain in the airport until flights in designated times have departed. You may also arrange to be picked up at the residence if you prefer. Ground transportation to NY is available for $150.
Food & Meals
A big part of your success depends on how well you eat. We are proud of the fact that year after year we are complimented for our quality, quantity, and choice of food! Monday to Friday you will enjoy a variety of options catered on campus for your 3 meals a day. On weekends, breakfast and dinner is included and lunch will be your choice in town or at our excursion destination. Food options are varied and plentiful. We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, anaphylactic food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.
Laundry
You will only need one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. We have the opportunity to do laundry at your convenience in our residence hall.
What’s Included
Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, lunch Monday-Friday, recreation & entertainment listed, day and weekend excursions, application fee, use of Lyndon Institute’s athletic facilities, Wi-Fi in residence, courses (supplementary fees may apply for some) airport transfers in designated times, gratuities & taxes.
Not included is transportation to and from the program, lunches on Saturdays and Sundays, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, and laundry. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
