For teens who love all aspects of fashion and dream of living in New York City… the FWI Fashion Experience, a collaboration between Fashion Week Internships and Westcoast Connection, will bring dreams to life as participants get exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the world of fashion. Experience tours and meet with notable executives, designers and artists of leading fashion companies. You will find our partner companies are passionate about what they do and eager to share their knowledge with you—the next generation of industry professionals.

Your NYU residence is steps away from all the excitement of New York City. There is a social lounge for your enjoyment and study rooms available for your use.

Fashion Week Internships (FWI) believes that by sharing the excitement, glamor, intensity, and creativity of the fashion industry, they can help develop and inspire the next generation of fashion designers, trendsetters, creatives, and leaders.
FWI’s internship programs deliver tailored fashion industry opportunities, helping hundreds of students and graduates take a step forward in achieving their dreams every year. Now, in collaboration with Westcoast Connection, FWI is proud to launch a summer program for high school students for an interactive Fashion Experience, an overview of the inner workings of all aspects of fashion.
FWI has built a dedicated team and works with some of the best known brands, designers, and fashion industry businesses around the world.
FWI is extremely proud of all their achievements to date, but also conscious of the responsibility to continually grow, develop and strive to deliver ever higher standards of care and quality, resulting in more immersive and meaningful experiences for the Fashion Experience participants and interns.

Participate in an admissions information session with the FIT Admissions Office. Find your path that best fits your talent and aspirations. Explore the study option to make your mark in the art and business of fashion, design, and related industries. In addition, visit FIT’s entertaining and educational fashion museum with inspiring exhibitions to advance your knowledge of fashion.

Top of the Rock
See the most breathtaking view of New York City from an observation deck 70 floors high! At the top of Rockefeller Center are three observation decks with unbelievable 360-degree views. Experience a glass ceiling sky shuttle lift you 850 feet into the heavens overlooking all of the city’s attractions and the beautiful skyline.
Harbor Boat Ride aboard the BEAST
Experience a thrilling speedboat ride that zooms down the Hudson River at speeds up to 45 mph. Zoom within 100 feet of the Statue of Liberty to a rockin’ soundtrack and an awesome and fun interactive captain and crew.
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum
Visit the beautifully designed museum and monument made to commemorate the past as well as inspire hope for the future. The site of Ground Zero draws millions of people and is a must-see to pay tribute when traveling to New York.
South Street Seaport
This active waterfront location nestled between the Brooklyn Bridge and the canyons of Wall Street is the gateway to Lower Manhattan’s rich maritime history and cultural diversity. Experience exciting entertainment, unique shopping and dining, cultural activities, and much more.
Smorgasburg & Brooklyn Flea Market
One of the most popular tourist destinations in Brooklyn, The New York Times called Smorgasburg “The Woodstock of Eating.”Smorgasburg & Brooklyn Flea Market features foods, beverages, and treats from 100+ vendors from New York City and across the region.
Chinatown
Taste the greatest assortment of Chinese delicacies you can imagine. Find the best Dim sum spots; try specialty soups, and devour dumplings while exploring the many cultural and ethnic multiplicities Chinatown has to offer.
The High Line
A public park built on a historic freight rail line raised above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side, featuring expansive views of the Hudson River, art displays, open-air café’s, as well as numerous culinary delights. Distinct to The High Line are beautiful gardens and overlooks with water features lining the pathway of the park.
Chelsea
Originally home to warehouses and non-operational railroads, Chelsea has transformed into a contemporary art district and rising hotspot of New York City, with highlights such as the Chelsea market (an indoor marketplace and mecca for gourmet food lovers), and Chelsea Piers (a sports and entertainment complex on the waterfront, featuring a roller rink, ice rink, and bowling alley).
Times Square and Midtown West
Labeled as “The City That Never Sleeps”, Midtown West is the largest business district in the United States.
A melting pot of travel and culture, attractions include the Broadway Theater District, Times Square, The Times Warner Center (a luxury shopping district), Museum of Modern Art, Bryant Park, and Madison Square Garden, a famous arena (home to notable events such as championship boxing, Rangers & Knick’s games and music concerts).
Meatpacking District
Not to be misled by its name, the meatpacking district is a very trendy neighborhood in Manhattan. Its historical importance as a market-filled industrial center has not been lost, however the district has transformed into a popular nightspot with late-night venues and eateries galore.
Greenwich Village
One of the oldest and trendiest districts of New York, “the village” as it is referred to, has retained much of its charm and historic character over the years. At the center is Washington Square Park, serving as an unofficial quad for NYU students and a popular hang-out spot.
SoHo
A bustling neighborhood of Lower Manhattan with art galleries, exclusive boutiques, chic hotels, and stylish restaurants, SoHo is a hub for retail therapy, with a variety of luxury trademark clothing, designers, and trendy bars and restaurants.
Brooklyn
The second largest city in the United States, Brooklyn is home to many of New York’s top attractions including The Brooklyn Bridge, Botanic Garden in Prospect Park, Flea market, Historical Society, and Coney Island.
Little Italy
Manhattan’s Little Italy is a haven for family, tradition, community, celebration along with culinary pleasures.
Flight to New York
As a participant on our FWI Fashion Experience program, you may fly to New York City and be greeted upon arrival and enjoy complimentary transfer (for flights in designated times) from the airport to our residence. For those requiring, we are happy to assist you with arranging flights to and from the program. If you prefer, you may be dropped off directly at our NYU residence and meet your staff there.
Return Flight Home from New York
For your return from New York for flights in designated times, we provide airport transfer and our leaders help you to check in and remain in the airport until flights have departed.
Food & Meals
A big part of your summer program’s success depends on how well you eat. We are proud of the fact that year after year we are complimented for our quality, quantity and choice of food! Enjoy a delicious breakfast with a healthy variety of hot and cold choices at the NYU dining hall. For lunch, you enjoy the choice of eating in smaller groups and choosing from local cafés and small restaurants. For dinner, either the whole group goes to the same restaurant or we divide into smaller groups to sample quainter places with a variety of cuisines. Food options are varied and plentiful.
We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, anaphylactic food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.
Laundry
You will only need one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. You will have the opportunity to do laundry at your convenience by either dropping off your laundry at a local wash and fold service and then pick it up clean, folded and ready to go or you may do laundry in your residence hall.
What’s Included
Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, recreation & entertainment listed, day excursions, Wi-Fi in residence, airport transfers in designated times, gratuities & taxes.
Not included is transportation to and from the program, lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, and laundry. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
